Operatives of the Amotekun Corps have arrested one Daniel Chigozie, 30, a resident of Abela Area of Sango Ota for selling his Nine months old son, Daniel Chinonye Darlington.
It was learnt that the suspect had serially traded with the baby and sold him to three different buyers at different times and locations in Sango(Ogun State) Meiran(Lagos) and Apapa Areas of Lagos for One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (N150,000.00), Four Hundred Thousand Naira (N400,000.00) and Seven Hundred Thousand Naira (N700,000.00) respectively between August 2022 and February 2023.
Investigation also revealed that the suspect who is believed to be working with a criminal syndicate had arrangements in place through which the son would be retrieved after each sale.
However, his strategy failed him when he sold the boy to a third buyer, one Dr. Nosa in Apapa and the bubble bursted which led to his arrested by the Amotekun Corps.
Commissioner of Police, David Akinremi, who is the Commander of Amotekun Corps in Ogun State confirmed arrest on Friday, saying the suspect in his statement had confessed to the crime and he is being processed to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Humans for a follow up investigation to recover the child and prosecution.
