In commemoration of the World Hepatitis Day held on 28th July 2024, Supreme Care Health Foundation has provided free Hepatitis B testing, vaccination, and counselling services to the Jenta Adamu community and its surroundings at Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, Nigeria.
Over a hundred beneficiaries who were vaccinated and took advantage of the opportunity with the theme “It Is Time for Action”.
The event aimed at raising awareness on Hepatitis B which is a viral infection that affects the liver and can lead to serious health issues if left untreated.
Residents of Jenta Adamu and nearby communities were invited to participate in the free screening to determine their Hepatitis B status and those that tested positive received immediate counselling and were given access to further medical assistance.
Dr. Adekunle V. Ojo, the CEO of the Supreme Care Health Foundation, emphasized the importance of early detection and prevention of Hepatitis B.
According to him “the World Hepatitis Day is an opportunity to educate communities about this preventable and treatable disease. Our goal is to encourage people to take action, get tested, and, if necessary vaccinate against Hepatitis B.
Early detection and vaccination are key steps in reducing the spread of the virus and improving public health outcomes,”.
The Supreme Care Health Foundation’s initiative included sensitization sessions, where community members were educated about the transmission, prevention, and treatment of Hepatitis B.
Volunteers and healthcare professionals provides valuable information on maintaining Liver health and the importance of regular medical check-ups.
The community members who participated in the event expressed gratitude for the free services provided by the organization.
