A new President of Igbo Apex socio-cultural organization known as Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Ogun State chapter has emerged.
Chief Stephen Okorie was elected after polling the highest votes.
Chief Stephen Okorie won the contest with a total of 81 votes to defeat Prince Kingsley to emerge the winner in the election.
Our correspondent who was present during the election gathered that the election was free, fair and transparent, adding that it was witnessed by election observers
It was also reported that the prominent leaders of Igbo’s communities and other Igbo section from different groups in the State also witnessed the election since the election was to elect the president of the most an Apex Igbo socio-cultural organization ( OHANAEZE NDIGBO).
The Chairman, INEC, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Ogun State, Chike Ofaraka while speaking with newsmen said it was an open process to promote the transparency and credibility of the election in the state.
He submitted that the election was free, fair and transparent, urging the new president to use the office for the development of igbo’s in the State.
Also the Special Assistant to Ogun State Governor on inter-ethnic affairs, Hon. Monday Chukwuji commend the INEC for conducting free, fair and transparent election.
He appreciated the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun for prioritizing the welfare of igbos in the State, describing Abiodun as an outstanding Governor.
Hon. Chukwuji congratulated the new president, urging him to apply his leadership skills as a management analyst and unite the Igbos., and also always carry every sections along in his day to day activities in the State.
The new President Chief Stephen Okorie, while speaking with newsmen assured the people of Ogun State that his administration will keep to his promises to unite and harmonise every facet of relationships, grooming of peace among the Igbos and the host communities , saying that his door is widely opened for everyone.
He commended the Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun for always remembering the Igbos, saying that the Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Ogun State will continue to support the administration of Prince Dapo Abiodun.
The new President Chief Stephen Okorie also stated his wish to work with Hon. Monday Chukwuji the Special Assistant to Ogun State Governor on inter-ethnic affairs, to enhance the good work the State Governor has been doing.
Chief Stephen Okorie, on his speeches emphasize his motivation for vying for the post of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Ogun State President saying that Igbos are like minded people and wish to work with the State Government, and create the atmosphere of good relationships.
The new President, on his speeches thank the Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun for his love and understanding, diplomacy and experiences during his first tenure and his present. Chief Stephen Okorie on behave of the Igbos promise to co-work with the State Governor at all ramifications.
