Peace has finally restored to ward 9 in Abeokuta North Local Government, Ogun State as other aspirants who contested for councilorship position in the ward have reconciled with Hon. Afolabi Olakunle who emerged as the party flag bearer for the upcoming Local Government Elections.
Recall that during the primary election, two councillorship candidates emerged and this has caused confusion for the residents of ward 9 and the people of Abeokuta North Local Government in general.
The recent emergence of Hon. Afolabi Olakunle as councilorship candidate came up after the party(APC) at the state level recognized him as the party flag bearer for the upcoming Local Government Elections.
The following aspirants, Adeosun Azeez (Father), Comrade Lawal Olawale, Hon Moroof Salaudeen, Akintunde Abiodun
Aremu Akeem, Bolarinde Oluwatobiloba, Ayoola Ganiu, Saburi Bashir and Bashir Danlami while speaking with our correspondent on fone declared their support for the councillorship candidate and agreed to work for his victory at the polls.
They said that they are ready to do everything in their capacities to help Hon. Afolabi Olakunle to succeed at the polls.
One of the aspirants, Hon. Oluwatobiloba who spoke with our correspondent said that he is planning to form a campaign committee in the ward that will help the councillorship candidate to win during the elections.
One of the party leaders in the ward, Hon. Wale Bello has handed over the councilorship candidate to the ward 9 chairman, Pa Edward
Bello while speaking after handing over Afolabi Olakunle to the ward chairman said that Alhaja Faidat Akintunde Sarumi has mandated him to do it as to restore peace to the ward, saying that the Chairperson wants other aspirants to come together and support the councilorship candidate recognized by the party.
He said ” I am mandated by our local government party chairman, Alhaja Faidat Akintunde Sarumi to hand over our councilorship candidate, Hon. Afolabi Olakunle to you. Our party chairman said she doesn’t want any crisis again, she wants peace to be restored to ward 9 and I have talked to all other aspirants, they have reconciled with Afolabi Olakunle and they are ready to support him to win at the polls but only Hadjor has not picked my calls and I know he will definitely support him.
Meanwhile, the ward chairman, Pa. Edward Onifade said he has accepted the party’s choice of candidate , saying that he had sworn to the oath of allegiance to the party and he will remain loyal to whatever the party says.
He therefore congratulated the councilorship candidate and took picture with him to endorse him.
