A popular group known as Progressive Minds which cuts across the ten wards of Ijebu North East, Odogbolu, Ijebu Ode Federal Constituency Government, Ogun State has accused an honorable member, representing Ijebu North East Federal Constituency , Hon. Olufemi Ogunbanwo, popularly known as OMO IWA of neglecting them after wining election in 2023.
The group in a statement jointly signed by the Executives of the Association said OMO IWA has failed them, saying that they played a major role towards the victory of the reps member in 2023.
The Statement reads “It should be emphasized that this Progressive Minds exist as a pressure group, having been established and constituted by like-minded youths within the local government for the collective development of her members in terms of education, trade/business and political inclinations. For instance, the group unanimously decided to support certain contenders during last 2023 general elections of which Barr.Olufemi Ogunbanwo (OMO-IWA) was a candidate.
“It is however to our dismay that Barr. Olufemi Ogunbanwo (OMO-IWA) has forsaken us and completely left us out in the scheme of representation and inclusion. It is on record that this Progressive Minds was one of the earliest (if not the very first) support groups that started campaign/street rally for OMO-IWA.
Our reservations
” That Barr. Olufemi Ogunbanwo (OMO-IWA), in several instances, has neglected us and turned us to subject of ridicule. Despite leading his campaign within INELG, he and his team has by words and actions tagged us as “unrecognized”.
“We demand wider consultation and dissemination of information before impactful programs are executed. It has been observed, with utmost disrespect to ordinary INELGians, that several programs from office of the honourable member will be held without good people of constituency being in the known.
“Many of this beneficial programs are only made known either when the programs are on-going or after they have been executed.
” In the area of youth engagement, the group has been completely left out in the scheme of his administration. He has failed us, he could not meet us directly, the official OMO-IWA’s legislative aide also failed to relate with us.
“This is not to disrespect anyone nor cast aspersion on the honourable member, but a Clarion call to do the needful. The organization will not hesitate to commend where necessary, neither will it be silent in the face of obvious neglect.
