The Council chairman, Abeokuta North Local Government, Hon. Abdulsalam Ayorinde has finally reacted to the suspension of the ongoing projects in the local government by the legislators.
Ayorinde while speaking with newsmen said the legislators have no right to stop the on going projects in the local government.
He said that the legislators have their legislative right to summon any department to appear before the legislative house and give clarifications.
He said ” It’s their legislative right to summon any department to appear before the legislative house and give clarifications on what they think might be grey areas.
“I am just seeing this from you. I’m sure the legislative arm should be well educated on the proper channel to get whatever information they want from the council.
” Till this minute, I have not received any correspondence on this from them
” What is happening is very good for democracy. It’s called separation of powers and it only brings dividends of democracy to the good people of Abeokuta North LG.
“The executive arm will respond appropriately immediately we receive their correspondence
” Legislators do not have the right to stop ongoing projects but seek clarifications as they deem fit”. He concluded
