On April 24th, 2024 there was a report of an horror incident at Mowe market, where some families were thrown into mourning due to an electrocution, caused by rainstorm in Mowe market, which drew the immediate attention of the Executive Chairman, Obafemi Owode Local Government, Amb. Ogunsola Adesina Lanre, FCPA to the scene of the disaster.
The Council Boss through Babaloja of Mowe market, Comrade, Chief Nurudeen Aina Alowonle, doled out Five Hundred Thousand Naira( N500,000:00) to Igbo Community to cater for their medical support and losses recorded during the incidents.
He further reiterated his pledge in taking care of the bills of those hospitalized at different hospitals,while prayed for their quick recovery.
The Chairman reaffirmed seven days ultimatum given to those who erected shop extensions under high-tension cables to remove it within the periods, but yet to comply will face full enforcement of taskforce in the coming week.
Mr. Uchena Ubani, Leader of Igbo Community, Mowe Market, who received the cash on behalf of his people thanked the government for rescuing them at the right time.
He further appreciated the support of free medical attention received from the Local government Chairman, Amb. Ogunsola for the affected victims and families that lost their loved ones, he assured them the order pronounced by government would be adhered and complied with, in the market.
Other members of Igbo community at the Mowe market present at the presentation of cash donation includes, Ikechukwu Ugwi, Chairman, Igbo People, Mowe Market, Chief Kayode Tosin among others,who expressed satisfaction on the chairman prompt intervention.
