A former councilor in Ogun State, Hon. Lukman Taiwo Kelani, popularly known as “Kelat” has declared his ambition to contest for the chairmanship position of Abeokuta South Local Government.
Newsangle online reports that the tenure of the current local government chairmen will expire in the next two months
It was also gathered that the Governor of the State, Prince Dapo Abiodun is not likely to hold elections after the end of tenure the current council chairmen.
It was further reported that Abiodun will appoint caretaker committee chairmen before preparing for the local government elections.
Kelat who is a Chieftain of All Progressives Congress, APC from Abeokuta south Local Government has contested for the same position in the last local government elections but didn’t win at the primary.
He revealed that when the time comes he would publicly declare his intention and his manifestoes would be unveiled to the people of the local government.
While speaking with our correspondent on phone interview, the former councilor declared that he is the next LG Chairman, adding that he has enough experiences to rule Abeokuta South LG.
Hon. Kelani added if given the chance, he would return the local government to a better position.
In a phone interview he said ” yes I intend to contest, it is my time but let’s wait when the time comes, you’ll hear about why I’m in there.
Hon. Kelani who is a grassroots politician has been in politics over three decades and has held several political positions, ranging from SDP polling unit agent UNCP councilor, supervisor for health and medical , UNCP re-elected as councilor ward 3 AD, Senior Special Assistant, Senior personal assistant.
When he was a councilor, representing ward 3, Abeokuta south, Hon. Kelani was re-elected for another term.
