The Executive Chairman, Obafemi Owode Local Government, Hon. Amb. Ogunsola has reacted to a video circulating in the media where residents of Bamgbade community in local government cried out over lack of safe and drinkable water
The residents also claimed that they have not benefitted from water projects from the current government.
Ogunsola in his reaction said that no official request has been made to the local government till now from the village.
He assured the people of the community that government will intervene in their matter very soon, urging them to remain calm.
“The attention of government has drawn to the circulating video in the media, despite the efforts of Obafemi Owode Local Government in providing portable water for all and sundry, particularly the people living at the rural area.
“It is worthy of note, Obafemi Owode Local Government has over 3,000 villages cut across 12 wards that made up the council area.
“You will recall that recently, the council boss sunk and commissioned motorized boreholes at the villages, including Fidiwo market close to Bamgbade.
“As a responsive government that prioritize the necessity of lives, particularly as the spread of water burn diseases are on the high rates, and based on the directive of Ogun State Governor, His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON that as a measure to curb the spread of Cholera in the state, adequate water must be provided for all the residents, particularly people living in the village areas.
“Some of the villages so far benefitted in the first phase of our water projects across wards includes, Erinle, Amusan, Akiode, Fodoko, Mabon, Gbalesun and Fidiwo market which is the commercial center that shares closet boundary with Bamgbade Village.
” I want to reiterate our commitment that, the wellbeing of our people is germain to us, as against the circulating videos on media and to inform the public that no official request made to the local government till now from such village “.
“I therefore assure the people of Bamgbade village that government will intervene in their matter in no distance future, said Council boss.
“Similarly, in our second phase of projects commissioning, more Boreholes sunk and completed will be Commissioned next week Tuesday, 16th July, 2024 at Odofin Igbore Moloko Asipa ward, Oba-Erin, Oba ward, Ijemo Olusi, Onidundu ward, Eleworo, Mokoloko ward and many others.
