Children, friends in Lagos and Ibadan joined the Muslim community in Ginti, Ikorodu to felicitate the octogenarian Alhaja Sidikat Bolomope Adeyemo and prayed for more of Allah’s blessing upon her at the weekend on becoming the Iya Adinni of Ginti Muslim Community Central Mosque, Ginti in Ikorodu Local Government Area of Lagos State.
Alhaja Adeyemo, who left the Lagos civil service after years of meritorious career at the Ikorodu General Hospital, was made Iya Adinni on Saturday, November 25 in recognition of her consistency of support for the community mosque.
Bestowing the title on her, the Chief Imam of the mosque, Fadhlatul-Shaykh AbdulJeleel Ayodeji Bakare, said that the art of recognising some people in society for honour is rooted in the Holy Quoran, explaining that angels and some men were marked out and anointed to perform specific functions for the Almighty Allah and mankind as directed.
Fadhlatul-Shaykh Bakare said that Prophet Muhammad too selected some believers and assigned different roles to each of them in furtherance of the service of Allah and His people, adding that they at Ginti have decided to “embrace such a well conceived idea for the smooth running of the mosque.”
Apart from Mama Adeyemo, who is the mother of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Pelican Valley Nigeria Limited, a foremost Nigerian real estate firm, Dr Babatunde Adeyemo, other eminent faithful that were recognized and given chieftaincy titles include Surveyor Gbadamosi Luqman Idowu(Asiwaju Adinni), Alhaji AbdulRasheed Olaoye Adeleke (Arowoshadinni), Dr. Sikirullahi Olatunji Usman(Saraki Adinni), Dr. Shakirudeen Tayo Abdulkareem (Otun Saraki Adinni), Alhaja Hosenatu Abebi Adesanmi (Alakoso Adinni) and Princess Munirat Titilayo Adenigba(Iya Sunnah).
The Chief Imam who prayed for Allah’s blessing and protection upon them concerning their new roles, expressed the confidence that the step taken would help in meeting the mosque social and other needs.
The ceremony was finalised with sumptuous meals, assorted drinks, music, souvenirs and other entertaining activities for the guests from far and near to enjoy.
