The Executive Chairman, Obafemi Owode Local Government, Ogun State, Amb. Ogunsola Adeshina Lanre has debunked the rumours making around that he gave a community one 10kg of rice as palliative to cushion the effect of the removal of fuel subsidy.
He urged the general public to disregard the false information, saying that enemies of government are responsible for the rumour.
Ogunsola added that the bag of 10kg rice is meant for a disabled who was not available during the distribution.
The Executive Chairman made this known in a statement signed by him and made available to newsmen in Abeokuta.
The statement reads “It is indeed indisputable that truth is eternally sacred; it is on that note that we consider it imperative to put issues in proper perspective amid half truth and misinformation.
“Obafemi Owode Local Government, under my leadership began the distribution of food palliatives to cushion the effect on the increase in the price of commodities as a result of fuel subsidy removal, on 26th September 2023, to three sections that made up of the Council Area, namely, Obafe, Owode and Oba.
“All groups were equally represented in the stakeholders’ meeting and committee set up by the government to monitor the distribution across wards, villages, communities and towns within the local government.
“The groups include Traditional Rulers, Baales, Religious Body, Community Development Associations, Youths, Security agencies, Market Men and Women as well as People living with Disability.
“However, and in utter astonishment, a video went viral with obvious and deliberate notion to blackmail the government and denigrate its efforts.
“As a responsive government of Obafemi Owode, the Information Department, captured the responses of Engr. Timothy Agboola, CDA chairman, and Adesan Mowe at a meeting with some stakeholders in that area, where he regretted the actions as he failed to seek necessary information on a bag of 10kg rice sent to him for delivery to a disabled who could not be available during distribution, as some others have collected in his area from IMAMS’ CANS’, YOUTHS, MARKET MEN AND WOMEN, BAALES, POLING UNITS and others”
The chairman therefore, urged the public to disregard his initial submission on palliative gifts.
Ogunsola admonished all and sundry to disregard any information against the distribution as method adopted is being adjudged the best, as all stakeholders involved are very transparent.
“We want to put it straight that at no time or place that any community or group was given one 10kg bag of rice as their share of the relief materials as mischievously displayed by the CDA Chairman.
“I, therefore, urge the general public to please disregard the false information, being peddled by enemies of Government and opposition elements, with the aim to rubbish laudable efforts of the Governor of Ogun State, His Excellency, Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun to bring succour to the needy in our society”, the Chairman said.
Amb.Ogunsola further assured the people of more impacts of government in no distance time.
