The Executive Chairman, Obafemi Owode Local Government, Hon.Amb. Ogunsola Adesina Lanre on Thursday set up committee and monitoring team saddled with the distribution of fuel subsidy removal palliatives to the residents of the local government.
Three members from the commitee were drawn from three divisions that make up Obafemi Owode Local Government comprises, Obafemi, Owode and Oba respectively.
Council chairman charged the members of the committee to be transparent in the discharge of their duties, as it is a call to service.
He urged stakeholders from religious groups, traditional council, security agencies, community leaders, Youths, Market men and women, Community Development Associations among others, to remain supportive to the program in order to achieve desired results.
Meanwhile, Hon. Mrs. Nike Osoba, member of the Ogun State representative in the Palliative Committee, implored the local government palliatives committee to look beyond party affiliation in the distribution of the goods meant for all indigents according to the directive of the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun CON.
She further stressed that federal government initiated the palliative program to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal and ameliorate the hardship experience in the cost of living presently and seek for cooperation of all for even distribution.
Hon Soneye Kayode Damilola, Member, Ogun State House of Assembly, Representing Obafemi Owode State House Constituency also asked the committee to be up and doing and make transparency be their watchword as it is emphasized by the Executive Chairman of the council.
“The core value of the exercise is to put smiles on the vulnerable as part of dividends of democracy for all and appeal to avoid looting of the goods in our respective domain” he said
Also speaking at the inauguration, DCO Ojeniran Saheed, representing DPO, Owode Divisional Police Force, said they are ready to provide all necessary security needed during the exercise to protect lives and properities and to have hitch free exercise.
Oba Taofeek Owolabi, Olu of Obafemi appreciated the government for coming up with the initiatives to show concern in people’s plight at this crucial period of renewed hope.
He further thanked His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun CON for augumenting the salaries and welfare of traditional rulers in the State.
One of the representatives of religious bodies of both Muslims and Christians, Dr. Adeleye Saheed who spoke on behalf of others expressed their readiness to support and ensure total compliance of their congregation towards the program.
Other stakeholders present at the inauguration includes, Vice Chairman, Hon. Titus Olusesi, Leader of the Legislative House, Hon. Kehinde Kayode Akinsola, Secretary to Local Government, Hon. Kayode Dipeolu, Councillors,Supervisors, among others.
