The Executive Chairman, Obafemi Owode Local Government, Ogun State, Hon. Amb. Ogunsola Adeshina has refuted the purported claim that the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun has delved into the federal allocation of the local government.
Recall that the Chairman of Ijebu East Local Government Area of Ogun State, Wale Adedayo, had accused the governor of withholding the LGs’ allocations.
Ogunsola however said that Abiodun has not tempered with their allocation, saying that the Governor has been providing the local government with special intervention funds to embark on some capital projects.
Ogunsola let this out on Monday during a press conference held at the local government secretariat, Obafemi Owode, Ogun State.
He also denied attending any meeting with anyone or signed any document on the issue of alleged zero allocation, adding that he would never be part of any move to derail the giant strides of development in Ogun State.
“The entire management team and council area hereby refutes the allegation of diversion of local government allocation. I wish to state that there has never been a time when state government under the leadership of his excellency Prince Dapo Abiodun delved into the federal allocation of the local government”.
“Our amiable has been providing us with special intervention funds to embark on some capital project such as the construction of a block of 2 classrooms at Olosun and recently completed and commissioned a block of 3 classrooms at Agbopa among others”.
“Obafemi Owode local government under my humble leadership hereby passes a vote of confidence on the administration of Prince Dapo Abiodun and we reiterate our confidence in the implementation of the Joint Account Allocation Committee, JAAC, Ogun State. As we continue to witness tremendous progress and development in Ogun State and Obafemi Owode Local Government”.
“I wish to state that i have never attended any meeting with anyone or signed a document on the issue of alleged zero allocation, i will never be part of any move to derail the giant strides of the development in Ogun state” he concluded.
The LG chairman, who displayed the breakdown of how the LG received the funds at the meeting, added that the allegations were unfounded as far as the LG is concerned.
Ogunsola also noted that he has been able to execute many legacy projects with the support of the state government and the IGR generated by the local government.
He therefore, enjoined the citizens of Ogun State to cooperate with the State Government and not to be distracted by any politically motivated allegation.
Meanwhile, the Olu of Obafe, Oba Taofeek Kayode Owolabi added that all the Egba traditional rulers have been getting their salaries from the local government as when due.
He commended Ogunsola for his good deeds to the people of Obafemi Owode Local Government and the traditional rulers in the local government.
Other dignitaries present at the conference were members of the legislative council, Vice Chairman of the council, Hon. Olusesi Titus Babatunde, Secretary to the LG, Chief Kayode Dipeolu, Director of Finance and supply department, NULGE branch chairman and others.
