Six years after the demise of the Olu of Orile-Imo, a community in the Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun, the Asiwaju of Orile Imo, High Chief Dr. Olakunle Olalekan has declared his intention to ascend to the stool.
Olalekan during a meeting with 30 village heads that were present with Orile-Imo Chiefs which was held at the town hall, expressed readiness to put his foot forward in succeeding the late Oba Kolawole Shomiko 1 who died in 2017.
He noted that he would be bringing to the stool his wealth of experience in leadership gained over the years.
Olalekan, a former regent of Orile-Oko stressed that the next Olu of Orile-Imo must be strong-willed, progressive-minded, and have a dynamic approach to issues.
He, however, noted that he possesses the leadership needed to take over the stool, adding that he will build on the legacies of the late monarch by expanding the community for international firms.
The philanthropist further promised that the peace and the development of Imo town would be his priority if he emerges as the next monarch of the community.
He added, “The major goal of this meeting is for me to announce my interest in succeeding the Olu of Orile-Imo as the future king.
“This decision was made after I have consulted necessary people and I want you to know that I have the skill, competence, interest, cultural significance, intelligence, educational background, and respect for the Yoruba race as a whole.”
