The Executive Chairman of Abeokuta North Local Government, Hon. Ayorinde has reacted to his purported suspension by the Legislative House of the Council, saying that it is an exercise in futility.
He described the allegations leveled against him by the Legislators as “ridiculous, unfounded, false and baseless.
Recall that the Legislative Council of Abeokuta North Local Government at her plenary sitting held at the Legislative chambers today 10th of May 2023, suspended the executive Chairman Prince Abdulsalam Adebayo Ayorinde over allegations of gross misconduct.
The notice of the allegations was duly signed by 10 Councillors from the 4 communities in the local government.
Ayorinde maintained that all what reported about him are not true, calling on the people of Abeokuta North to disregard the report.
Ayorinde maintained that he still remains the council chairman, saying that the purported suspension will be resisted because it was not done in accordance with due process.
He added that his door is opened for the aggrieved Legislators to meet him and ask questions on the matter and he is ready to tell them what they don’t know.
“My attention has been drawn to an allegations leveled against me by the Legislative House of Council on the following,
1. High handedness and fraud by surreptitiously selling all the local government assets through a Public Private Partnership
2. Obstructing the legislative Council from performing their legislative duty
3. Zero level of accountability and transparency
4. Incessant absence of the Chairman from the office.
“I want to tell the public, leaders and members of the party that the above allegations are untrue. I have never sold any land to anyone. I expect the legislators to write me and ask about the matter before taking the decision of suspending me. I want urge them to meet with me and let us embrace peace.
