Senator Aishatu Dahiru Binani of the All Progressive Congress APC made history today, as she defeated five male contestants to pick the party’s ticket to become the first female flagbearer of any political party in Adamawa State.

The party primaries held at the Lamido Cinema which extended into the late night had several hitches which includes over voting by mystery delegates and loud alledgations of money rain.
The governorship primary in Adamawa state, was swept by the serving senator representing Adamawa central Senatorial District, defeated the popular former EFCC boss, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, who scored 288, ,former Governor Umaru Jibrilla Bindow, who scored 103 and serving House of Representatives member Hon Namdaz Abdulrazak, 94 votes while Hon Wafari Theman, and Umar Mustapha Otumba who scored 21 and 39 votes respectively.

Announcing the results of the Primaries that lasted to the early hours of today, the chairman of primaries committee, Alhaji Gambo Lawal said a total number of 1130 delegates were accredited and a total of 1011 votes were cast, while the invalid votes was casted is 36.

He said ” of the total number of valid votes casts Senator Aishatu Dahiru Binani scored 430 and haven scored the highest number of votes casts she is hereby returned has the winner of the primary elections.
APC observers however pick holes with the election because legal number of delegates stands at 1009 but 1011 results came out how did ghosts delegates come to vote during the primaries, these questions where raised.
INEC officials on standby also asked relevant questions about how the Chairman got 1130 votes accredited during the elections, instead of 1009 known by the umpire.
While speaking on the development Nuhu Ribadu who came second rejected the elections as lacking in transparency, he said explainable answers need to trace those ghost delegates that voted.
